Both vests are made using the same pattern I designed.

This maroon vest is made from an upholstery fabric with silk dupioni lining. I love the lace surprise on the back.
It's got pressed brass snaps, which I also love. The tassels look totally awesome when dancing, and the twisted gold/green trim is the perfect touch.

This vest reminds me the circus, or maybe that's just what I imagine everything to be.

The giraffe print is a linen, and the paisley lining is a gorgeous cotton.
I made the leggings as well.

You can see both of these vests on my blog: http://madebyjulianne.com/?p=4167

You are just so darling in your new vests!

You must have a gypsy heart to wear such fun and colorful clothing...

I love the giraffe print mixed with the floral print lining...

and the fringe on the red vest is great!

You always surprise and delight me with your playful fashion.

You are so talented, what an eye for mix and match you have! I especially love the giraffe print vest and girl, those leggings are freakin' awesome.

Beautiful! I love the use of tassels and lace in the top one, especially.

Thanks ladies! I was pretty excited about them, although I don't think I'll be making any more. I have about 7 of these now!

Sky Turtle, I get all my frames at goggles4u.com. It can be difficult to wade through the poorly organized selection, but you can't beat the prices!

It's hard to find knit fabrics with vertical stripes. In fact, 95% of my leggings are actually cut against the grain (meaning the fabric is sideways). I have to make sure that the fabric has great four-way stretch. Luckily I can pop down to the Fashion District in downtown LA. This particular fabric is a cotton jersey with about 3% lycra--it's silky and slinky and sooooo comfortable. I wear these leggings all the damn time!

Yes--I wonder why so many stripes are horizontal?  I imagine cotton jersey would be much more comfortable than lycra all day...especially in hotter climes!
