I started this blanket for a friend about a year and a half ago and finally finished it!

Me sitting on it for size comparison:

It looks great.  How do you join the granny squares in that kind of work?

I love pixelated video game afghans.  I'm afraid of doing them (and the afghans that use granny squares to simulate quilts) myself, because merely thinking about weaving in all those ends makes me want to lie down in a dark room.

Thank you for showing!

I just sew the squares into rows then sew the rows to each other. It takes time but it's kinda zen. Smiley

Thanks for your response.  What I meant was, do you go through both loops, back loops only, or front loops only?  Do you use a tapestry needle and yarn, or do you crochet the squares together?  And if the latter, using a single crochet, slip stitch, or other stitch?

Oh! I use a tapestry needle and sew through both loops on the square. I wanted a kinda of not noticeable joining so I just decided to sew them.

I love this! One of the coolest pixelated projects I've seen yet!

And nice work on finishing such a substantial project.
