Hi I made this square of Hermione! It took two weeks to make in my free time. I did not make the patter myself. It can be found at totallee.net and is free to use.

It ended up being about 2.5' long and a little over 2' tall. The pattern was super easy. There is a tutorial on the web site.
there are also several other patterns on the website too!

Oh, I love this! I've seen it somewhere before, but yours is especially lovely, and thanks for the link! I'm really impressed how simple frizzy single crochet can make such a realistic effect.

Just thinking about all the color changes makes my eyes water. Fantastic job! Now, what are you going to do with it? So many options come to mind: frame it, pillow top, front of a tote bag, part of an afghan, vest or jacket panel, chair back or cushion . . .
