My stone was sold as "Fancy Jasper."  There are many different varieties of jasper. I start reading about minerals and my head swims.

I've entered county fair competitions years ago, but ours has become so commercial that they no longer have those competitions.

Good luck with your entry. It deserves a ribbon.

Thank you for the information, I still think companies make up names for jasper all the time.
The dragonblood necklace took third place.  Usually they have some pretty pieces at the fair but this year I didn't see one piece of jewelry that inspired me.  To bad because I look forward to seeing what others in the area have worked on during the year.  One nice thing was a demonstration of silk painting.  That is one hobby that I haven't tried.

Thank you!  It always amazes me how the necklaces seem to make themselves.  I just hold the stones in my hands and I know what they should be.

Thank you!  I saw the wrap in a bead and button magazine.  Someone gave me several decades of the magazine and I just got through them all.  I even have one of the first published and there are no ads!  Now they are mostly ads!  They really have come a long way and there are a lot of great ideas!

Thanks again for the compliment

Lois
