I took a totally fun and amazing assemblage class in May and I have been hoarding stuff to make more assemblage art dolls and critters. I showed off my creation in the "Miscellaneous" board and started an email discussion with susanab and fiddlegirl8 about swapping art dolls.

http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=408811.0

My initial thought is that each partner send 5-10 small items, found objects, special fabric or whatever else you want incorporated into your finished piece. The projects would mainly be dolls, but would not have to be human. They could be stuffed dolls or sculptural or mini-quilt style or something else I haven't thought of yet. Let's hear your ideas about this. There would be a long crafting time and a strong committment to this idea, if you join.

Here are some artists to get you thinking/planning:

http://afancifultwist.typepad.com/a_fanciful_twist/2008/08/a-sneaky-art-do.html
http://shadetreeart.com/?page_id=5

I'll add some more links tonight. Please feel free to add some of your own. And if you're a Somerset Studios or ClothPaperScissors reader, there are many examples on their web sites.

I'm thinking fall for this swap - sign-ups in late August and crafting through September/October.

Once the bird swap starts moving, I mean when swappers start sending, then I'll post the sign-ups for this.
For now, you can think of ideas and collect some little bits and bobs that you would like included into your piece.

Sure thing! It could be a crown, hands and feet, belt....

I just watched about an hour of doll-making videos on YouTube. There are many dedicated (read: wacky) doll-making folks out there in the world.
