Girls sz5 fancy frilly tulle party outfit (final BFA fashion design project)

I just graduated from FITs Fashion Design BFA program with my specialization in childrenswear! This was the final outfit I made. I was quite fond of it, and honestly the skirt was simple enough to create. I thought it would be nice to post up on here (especially seeing as I havent been active on here in years!). The skirt is layered rows of tulle (in multiple layers) cut into scalloped edges and sewn onto the base tulle with a row of lace and a hand sewed row of beading. The lining is a heavy bridal satin which is hemmed with a scalloped edge as well (which is unable to really be seen in the pictures unfortunately). It was all gathered and sewn into a 2" wide elastic waistband that I had dyed. The top is made of a lighter weight grey satin, the same base tulle used for the skirt, and the same bridal satin that lines the skirt. The arm and neck holes are finished with a woven corded piping.

Oh my god it's so pretty! So that fabric was rainbow and frilly to begin with? You didn't have to sew a whole bunch of layers together to get that look/effect?

I will say, though, it does NOT look fun to sew!

No, the fabric started out as just plain tulle yardage, i had to cut it all and sew it into the frilly scalloped fabric. It was labor intensive but simple enough to do!

This is STUNNING, for a girl or a woman. I really love this. I can see the labor that must have gone into it, but the construction appears so clean and simple (a real skill, to make it look so easy). Beautiful; great job! What do you want to do with your degree?
