we should do a swap for people from different countries or cultures so that we can find out more about the world!

This is a sweet idea as long as the swap isn't too too huge since mailing large packages to far off countries can be really expensive! Cheesy

My only question about this swap is if we would have enough variety to make it varied, ya know? I know there are people from all corners of the world on here, but most of who I have seen swapping are USA, UK & Aus (I could be wrong, but that's just what I've seen). Not that there's anything wrong with learning about any of those, but I would hope for more variety, personally.

Maybe it could be a little more academic, like, you tell your partner about one culture, past or present, that you would like to learn about & your partner sends you a package with all sorts of information on that culture. Example, my partner wants to learn about India, so I send something made of fabrics that come from or resemble traditional Indian fabrics, a homemade art journal filled with tidbits about Indian mythology, & a clay sculpture of the Taj Mahal. I hope that makes sense, but that way we aren't limited by where we are from but have the entire world to explore.

This swap sounds like a great idea. Painted Sparrow, I like your solution. I would be interested in this swap, if anyone was interested in learning about my country

I would also love to participate in this swap, especially with painted sparrow's wonderful solution. I'm always up for learning about different cultures and this is a wonderful way to do just that.

Totally makes sense and is a fantastic idea!  Perhaps add the element of swap surprise by having one item on the sign-up questionnaire be to list, say, three to five countries or cultures in which you're interested, then your partner would get to research one of them to provide information and crafted items for you.
