In the Wicked Forest Matchbox swap, my second partner wanted Snow Whites heart in a box. In the story, the evil queen orders a huntsman to take Snow White deep into the forest, murder her and bring her heart back to the queen. He can't bring himself to do it and kills a doe instead and presents the queen with the deer's heart in a beautiful box.
The heart I made is sort of realistic, but stylized so it's prettier than a real one would be...after all if Snow Whites heart really was in a box, it would be the fairest heart in the land, right?  Cheesy

It's made from polymer clay and the matchbox is a standard size. I used a crystal for the handle, some metal feet that I think I got form Alpha Stamps and the hinge is from an awesome mail-order company called Lee Valley Hardware. I made the heart out of white poly clay and painted it with fucshia and magenta pearlized acrylics and then coated it with black and wiped most of that off with a damp paper towel.

What a beautiful thing!  That hinge is just perfect for such an important box.  The heart looks real.

Can't say it often enough- you have mad, totally mindblowing skills and this is just sooo pretty and stunning while creeping me out quite a bit at the same time. Wow. I love it.

Crafting keeps the madness at bay. Or is it the cause?

Do you mean Lee Valley Tool?  http://www.leevalley.com/

Bugger me - they have a store 15 minutes away from me.  I have always shopped there for gardening things and so many other supplies like knobs, etc, but never thought about them for the decorative hinges (face palm).

I love the look of all your projects.

Yes, they are the ones! They have little hinges and sometimes little knobs...itty bitty screws. Wish I had one near me!
