I have two autistic boys (and three neuro-typical girls)  I think it's interesting that I created my first of these quilts (and at the time the only one) in April of 2009, just a few months after my youngest was born and almost 2 years before we started our Autism Journey. I love the spectrum in general, the flow of colors, the different emotions we can feel just by looking at colors.

Thanks! I forgot to add it is 55" by 40" wide so it's pretty big. Each strip is 3" wide after SA. The binding is kona cotton solid black which I think adds a really nice contrast. The stripwork is top stitched to pure and natural cotton batting in a meandering pattern on the machine, the black binding is handstitched to the soft n' comfy green backing (I really dislike sewing with the stuff but it makes such a cozy blanket) I chose not to do a backing that had the topstitching all the way through because our ASD kids can have some pretty severe skin sensitivities and those stitches can be really annoying! Having the SnC backing gives it a uniform texture free of seams. It also lends a little weight to it which ASD kids also like.

Each of the blankets are similar but just like our kids on the spectrum, the colors are just a little different. Each also will have a different color backing, the next is blue Smiley
