This is a tutorial as to how to create a manbroiderer, specifically with the use of heavy metal.

1. Offer to make a cross-stitch for the Man.

2. Agree to cross-stitch Eddie from Iron Maiden fame (Derek Riggs, we salute you as the artist) even though it looks terribly complex and time consuming.

3. Work on the first quadrant of Eddie over the course of a year.

4. Put Eddie in the closet because it makes you sick to look at him.

5. Take Eddie out of the closet two years later, bust out two more quadrants, and show it to the Man.

6. Watch him get excited at the concept of the finished Eddie.

7. Suggest he start his own project, explaining the possibilities are endless.

8. Watch your Man blossom into a Manbroiderer right before your eyes, like a spring flower in the rain, stitching while he listens to The Number of the Beast.

9. Finish Eddie at some point. Maybe.

Any questions? I'll let you know how Eddie turns out. He's a monster.

He's stitching a little Harry Potter (with a quote)  - a gift for a friend. I'm not sure what he'll start next, but he said something in passing about Charles Manson. I'm excited!

That is so cool!  Make him finish Eddie himself!  Beautiful (?) work, BTW!

Yahoo! Another convert! Ya know, there is a group of manbroiderers on flickr. He should check into it!

The finished Eddie will be about 9" x 12".

Thanks for moving this to the right forum - I wasn't sure where to put it. I'll update in finished projects once it is done.

He is already excited to join craftster - he just has to chart his next project first. I'll let him know about the other man-stitching group - thanks!

That's really cool!  One of my ex's would love that Eddie stitch.  Smiley  I never could get him to try stitching though.  He cited his hands were too big and clumsy.

The guy I was with after him was and still is an avid stitcher.  He is currently working on a small Dimensions kit of the aurora over a little cabin in the snow.

Current guy is sitting on the couch repairing my favorite leather belt.  So he is sort of a stitcher.  Wink

Good job converting your man!

Looking to de-stash cross stitch magazines, particularly Cross Stitch Gold or New Stitches?  Please drop me a line!  I'd love to swap or buy some missing from my library!
