I kind of like the idea, enola! I've been meaning to turn a rice sack into a purse for aaaages, so what about a challenge to turn any commercially produced container into a crafty new bag? Everything from cereal boxes to tupperware to produce nets would be fair game Cheesy

I like that idea: any commercial container into a bag. It could turn into an alliteration frenzy: Craft a Commercial Container into a Crafty Carry-all.

I was thinking a purse/bag/wallet from your own material. Weaving ribbons, sewing fabric strips, taping duct tape and fusing juice pouches, that sort of thing.

How about a bag based on your favorite character (Disney, Mario Bros, whatever)

A bag with the shape of an animal? Fish, cat, dog, shark, or inspired by your pet, like an aquarium bag?

A kids bag, unusual closure bag, nature inspired bag, a bag with eyes, reversible bag, with changeable front, a bag with some sort of sewing technique, make a fun sportsbag,...

I always have lots of ideas  Grin , I just need time  Wink

What about a bag that showcases your craft?  Like the flap is a mini art quilt or there is embroidery or a painted panel.

Looking for a vintage magazine (1974 - 1978) that has a fabric nativity set w/ people and animals. An example: http://www.craftster.org/pictures/showphoto.php?photo=440861&ppuser=143144.

*continues kicking self for not making anything for the last challenge but wants to give it another go* I am really intrigued by both of these ideas. I think it'd be great to combine them into the challenge! I don't know how to word it but maybe show-what-else-you-know? 'Cause you'd be walking along with your fancy new purse/clutch/wallet/whatever and when you tell people you made it, it'd be showing that you not only know how to sew a purse/clutch/... but also that you can quilt, embroider, paint, smock, appliqu, or ?

(wouldnt it be cute for the opening to be like some kind of a mouth for a critter and you feed it change?) sewn piggy banks! you can make a big button hole for the spot to put change in lol. hmmmmmmm foldable card wallet with view windows? purses bags and wallets with view windows for pictures? maybe call them design display sewn items? what about pockets zippers and more? i love when straps and things have lots of pockets! or design a bag using only button embelishments to make pictures? tried to come up with anything i could to help with ideas, hope they were of some use or that they spark some imaginitive thinking!

I've seen some really interesting bags made from Duct Tape (it comes in amazing designs nowadays)that might be interesting. Or another idea would be a diaper bag for storing babies thing.

Inspired by Technology - could be anything, but what comes to mind quickly for me would be bags to hold electronics (computers, phones, mp3 players, etc) or bags made to look like technological devices

What about a bag insert - not sure of the correct name but they have lots of pockets/slots/etc for your stuff and you can move it from one bag to another.  You could up the challenge by specifying at least one circular pocket or one adjustable section or something? Only suggesting because one has been on my list of things to make for ages!

I've never made a bag, but I would love to see what other craftsters come up with for the favorite character bag. It sounds so fun!
