Hi, I currently have a cheap Brother machine and I am finally able to upgrade. I want a good quilting machine and am looking for advice on what brands or even a particular model that is worth checking out. My budget is $1000.
Any suggestions???

Oh, hi. Are you me? Cheesy I was in your situation about five months ago. I had a cheap Brother machine that I'd been using for about 1.5 years and just couldn't stand any more. I also had a budget of around $1000.

I ended up with a Husqvarna Viking Sapphire 835. I've been using it (a lot!!!) for the past five months and I love it. It's got all the features I wanted and runs perfectly. I was lucky - I caught the end of a Boxing Day sale (in late January...Boxing "Day" indeed! Tongue) so my machine came with a quilter's pack - this included a quilter's table expansion (which I love), a few extra feet for the machine, and probably some other things that I forget.

I am a great big nerd who likes to know all the details, so I found this site http://www.evidently.org/2007/02/too-much-information/ really helpful when trying to sort out what machines were actually good and which ones maybe weren't.
