Shocked So I have a Brother sewing machine very similar to this one. This is the first time for me sewing knits and using a zigzag stitch and I can't seem to get the tension right. Angry
I've re-threaded both the top thread and the bobbin, adjusted the upper thread tension from 4.5 to 0 back to 6 and I keep getting the same results. The bobbin thread is poking up from underneath and the top thread then dosesn't zigzag but is straight, with the bobbin creating little half-rungs (is this clear?). I've looked in my manual to see if I can adjust the presser foot pressure but I can't (someone from work said when sewing knits you should have a very light presser foot pressure).

Any thoughts on whatelse might be the matter?
Thanks!  Kiss

Ive been sewing all morning using a zig zag stitch on my Brother XR-7700 and now the stitch isnt working properly.
I have reset the tension, reset the machine, re-threaded it, and I am out of ideas of what to do. Ive taken a picture and used different thread colors to show the problem. The top thread is red and the bobbin thread on the bottom is black.
The top thread hardly zig zags at all and is just straight. If I pull on the top (red) thread, the whole thing comes undone.
What can I do?
Help please.

Looks like your bobbin is in wrong.  Double check that you've seated the bobbin in the machine correctly.  Just follow the diagram in your manual or on the machine itself.  My brother machine has the same bobbin setup and the diagrams are printed right next to the bobbin casing.  Good Luck!

your bobbin case may be fouled with some lint or loose thread.  Clean it well.
Or, your bobbin tension may be off; look for the little screw on the case and tighten it a bit, test, tighten some more...
