Crafting to keep insanity at bay.

I have fallen in love with topography art - just something about how the lines move is so beautiful. I wanted to create some art to emulate that so I came up with this:

I cut a stack of Rives BFK cotton fiber paper (super awesome paper, great for printmaking as well as for art purposes in general) and started cutting. It was done randomly, I think next time I might try to have an intentional shape or subject to drive the overall appearance.

And here's a weird picture my camera + photo processor came up with. I thought it was appropriately arty lol.

That's amazing!  It turned out beautifully!

Is the stack of paper glued together somehow?

Looking for a vintage magazine (1974 - 1978) that has a fabric nativity set w/ people and animals. An example: http://www.craftster.org/pictures/showphoto.php?photo=440861&ppuser=143144.

I would love something like this on my wall.  (hurries off to find this cottonsomethingorother paper you speak off.... okay, so I'll wait until Thursday, when I'm in the city, and will make a more clear mental note before going into the craft store)

Beautiful! There was recently an exhibit of the Japanese artist Noriko Ambe's work in my city and I fell in love with this style of art. If you haven't seen her work I recommend checking it out http://www.norikoambe.com/  Smiley (although pictures don't do the work justice!)
Thanks for posting, I love it  Grin

Wow that artist is amazing! My project was initially inspired by Jen Stark's amazing paperwork. But I wanted a more topo feel so I went with no color.

Ohhh, really like this. I agree with the others - I'm very tactile in general, and this just begs to have fingers run over it/
