i recieved the best "swap package" ever from lois pauley
first are the atc's she made for my cat theme the first one is a paper collage

the second one is a pencil drawing of a cat with flowers, she was thinking of a "hippie" cat, i love it hippie is SO my style. Cool

the extras she sent me 2 sheets of joss paper (i had to look this up) so i am sharing the answer if anyone else is like me. Roll Eyes it is a beautiful tissue paper that has color blocks on it.
the picture doen't show the gold it looks like gold leaf.
"Joss Paper, literally 'gold paper', also known as ghost money, are sheets of paper... which are common in traditional Chinese religious practices including the veneration of the deceased on holidays and special occasions. Joss paper, as well as other papier-mch items, are also burned in traditional Chinese funerals, to ensure that spirit of the deceased has lots of good things in the afterlife." --Wikipedia

she also included acopy of a 200 yr old book page in welsh.

she also sent me some vellum for pergamano (which i also had to look up) and found out it is pretty much like paper embossing but done on vellum or parchment paper. i will be trying that next. thank you lois for everything you sent and also thank you for opening my eyes to new papers and techniques.  Shocked

Your are very kind!  I didn't know that joss paper was used in so many ways.  I had only known that it was used as money.  Right before I stopped doing paper art joss paper was in everything.  It was the "in" thing to incorporate in projects.  Since then the paper arts have become far less popular.  It really is a shame because so many beautiful things can be made with it.  I hope you do try pergamano, a card edged in pergamano would be beautiful.

Enjoy some paper crafting!

Lots of happy mail today!  Yay!

From Lois Pauley, two for my tree of life theme, made with the Pergamano technique pilarfarmer just shared about.  They are lovely!!  Lois, you were nervous about your first swaps and I think you did fabulous!

Next a fun and vibrant vintage camper from spikefan!  Love it!

Finally another vintage camper from dreadlady.  Impressed with your use of different papers, collage, painting and drawing all combined.  It's really cool!!

Extras Extras Extras

I may have gotten this mixed up once I opened all my goodies today but I believe the papers on the left are from spikefan and I know the papers, vellum etc on the right are from Lois.

Thanks everyone for sharing your kindness and your talents!

I'm glad you liked the trees of life.  I couldn't get my pictures to come out even with scanning them!  It was fun practising pergamano again.  Hope you will try it yourself.
