I made these for my wonderful partner thehappycrochetchic in the Foxy Hooters Swap! She had mentioned having a hoopla wall she was always looking to add to & I was totally struck by the inspiration for these while I was researching foxes & owls.

One thing I really loved about the faces of the foxes & owls, is the intensity of their eyes & how much there is when you look into them, & I really wanted to capture that intensity with both in one piece. This is my first time working with felt for embroidery, but I thought being able to extend beyond the confines of the hoop itself would make it more dramatic. I added the embroidered embellishments to help add character & use the colors to tie them together. Stitches used are satin, stem, outline, french knots, blanket & whip stitch.

Without further ado, fox & owl felt hooplas!

I hope you enjoy them, C&C always welcomed! Smiley

I love, love, love these hoops!  You totally captured the intensity of the eyes and extending them off the hoops makes them all the more realistic....wow!!!!

Stunning! It's like they're looking in from a portal in another world.

I really like the way the design extends beyond the hoop. It's a great use of space.

Thanks for all the kind words, everyone! Cheesy Of the swap projects I've done, these were definitely one of the hardest to send away, I'm definitely going to need to make another pair for myself. lol

Jamian, I hadn't seen the portal idea before, but they do kind of look like that, don't they? Peeping through from some fantastic spirit world or something like that, I love that way of looking at them! Smiley
