Ok, this challenge was just what I needed to get my crafty rear in gear. Traveled to a local Goodwill a couple weeks ago and this is what I came home with after much searching and worrying that I wouldn't finish before closing.

Total: $10.50. Once I got home the long sleeve yellow shirt looked too orange so it was put aside for a future project, back under budget. *whew*

Inspired by the print on the sheet and my desire to do a godet skirt as shown by juniper, I set to work. Here is my trusty duct-tape double, Pixie, modeling for me. (no one else was home to help me take pics, but on a happy note I realized that I am now a little smaller than Pixie..woo!)

Made a 6-panel skirt with the sheet, using the green polo for the godets. Side zip and waistband. Used both polo shirts for the top (not enough of either one do do my original plan) using a modified Kwik Sew pattern. Used the napkins, the sheet, and some of the yellow polo for the bag. Also used the green polo and the sheet to do a headband, but that is a pattern that needs some work.  Tongue

Side view, showing the bag more.

Skirt waistband and zip, showing the topstiching

I used the buttons from the shirts to decorate the godet tops on the skirt. Also used one on the closure of the bag.

Back view. Looks a little odd on Pixie becuase of her little stub arms.  Grin

I have a couple more pictures on the project page on my site, just more detail stuff on the bag.

 Grin Thanks everyone!

One of the best parts was using the hems that were already in the shirts and the sheet. For some reason I always dread hemming and on these it was already done. Bonus!

Thanks!  Grin

Juniper did great with her tutorial for the skirt. Silly me had been looking for a pattern for a 6-panel skirt (I have ones for 4 & 8 ) but never realized that drafting one would be so simple.

I love the colors too, though I'm still on the fence about the color blocking on the top.  Undecided

thanks Thumbelina!

It is Kwik Sew #2694 without the sleeves, and color blocked (just had to make the back piece into 2 pieces), and to save fabric I did a mock overlap (originally the two front pieces are the same and overlap, for mine I cut one at an angle and sewed it to to other front - same effect basically since when I've used this pattern before I've sewn the overlap shut so I don't flash everyone)

The great attention to detail really caught my eye.  The buttons on top of each godet.  The fine finishing - everything is topstitched so neatly, cleanly and edges have a nice press.  Great details on the bag - the mix of fabrics blends so well.  The overall look is fab and so toghether.  It is bright and spritely, just right for a pixie!  Best wishes on getting the head-band to work as you desire.  It sounds like a cool accent for the outfit.  Oh, a thought , if you have enough fabric left - a triangle head scarf with a bias tie would also be a fun head piece.

Thanks all!

PixieSkull : You know, I did toy with the idea of shoes using that great ballet flat tutorial.

craftykate : Well, I can't take all the credit, the dh wrapped me up.  Grin It's a helpful thing to have around, but the stuffing takes forever.

GloriousHats : You are so kind, thank you. Smiley I do still have plently left, enough to try a scarf and another go at the headband.

Tappanga : Isn't it a great print! I've seen someone else on here make a dress with the same print.

sashers  : Oh my...In pink! Too cute. If it wasn't already cut into when I got it, it would have been hard to cut it for the outfit since it is a neat design.

Leylia : fresh garden salad..lol. that's a good name for it.  Grin

 Grin thanks!

The bag is a simple boxed bottom bag. There is a great tutorial by 'theJordy' in the bags section. We all tend to call them Jordy bags now. Smiley

The skirt is from a tutorial in the clothing section by juniper13. Just search for 'godet skirt'. Very fun to make...I really want to make more.

And the shirt is from a kwik sew pattern. The number escapes me for a moment but I may have said which one eariler in the thread.

I absolutely LOVE this outfit! It is something that I would actually wear. The skirt is just adorable- I'll have to find a pattern for it!

It has inspired me to modify some pajamas that I own.
