I was asked recently if I could make a spoon and horseshoe for a wedding. I'm not sure how many people know this lucky gift tradition. My family, a bunch of looney Brits, has been doing it for eons. In fact, I recieved my mum and dad's spoon and horseshoe when I got married.

Anywho, here's what I came up with...

The horseshoe is real, iron, but quite tiny. Only about 3" tall. My husband got a few of them in an old bucket at an auction just a week or so before I was asked to do this project.

The spoon is wooden, wrapped in birch bark, and includes an old iron nail to keep the baddies away and a sixpence for luck.

There's a four leaf clover tucked away in that little bramble for a little extra bit of luck.

I hope the bride-to-be likes them Wink

totally fabulous wedding gift!  I've heard of the horseshoe for luck (which started with the luck of finding a tiny one!) but not of the spoon before...they make a very pretty set Smiley

A sweet tradition, and such a lovely gift!
