I have a question - it is still a fairly long swap period, so what happens if someone is say travelling during a portion of the swap time and wants to close their shop for a week or so - would this be allowed? I'm not planning on being away for more than a few days, but someone might travel for Thanksgiving or such.

I still need to make my pie...I froze some berries, the others are looking pretty soggy in the fridge. I plan to bake it tomorrow morning, I was out all day today (and got home really late because of the metro flooding).

Mmm, pie!  Bet that will be delicious with an ice cold glass of milk!

Lana cracked open a jar as soon as she woke up this morning (yesterday she ate the leftovers about 5 tablespoons).  She is seriously obsessed with it.  Smiley

I think ice cream would be better than milk Smiley

Have Lana cook a Linzer torte: http://www.mykitchenintherockies.com/2012/02/18/linzertorte/

Here is the pie, just out of the oven:

Your pie looks awesome Ptarmic!  YUM!  I pinned the Linzer torte recipe for later.
I just asked my friend for figs from her trees and she's going to give me a batch tomorrow when the kids meet up for their orientation to 3rd grade.  YAY!  I've never had fig jelly before, but I imagine it's like the stuff inside of a fig Newton.  Smiley

So what are the benefits having a 1 month swap? I can't really see any. I can see benefits of have having a longer craft time. It is a busy time, craft wise and ortherwise. And I've never seen anyone complain that they have too much time to craft.  Wink

Well, the main benefits are to the organizer(s) Smiley  Plus, the secret santa sts tends somewhat toward spoilage, and the one-month length would hold that back somewhat. This might encourage folks who would prefer a less all-out spoilage swap and help those who might have very expensive postage.

However, we can discuss this. atsuko (henceforth you are going to be UTM, you realize), do you want to set up a separate discussion thread for the stssss?

Ahh, didn't think of that. Good point. Thanks

Wait, that sounds like a bad thing. I like spoiling.  Tongue Anyone who can't send extras, doesn't have to. Anyone who sends extras knows they might not get an equal package. I don't care what size package I get, but I do like to craft when the inspiration strikes and I have lots of time to do so.

There have many many times I have sent 15 points worth of items in a 5 point swap. Those people wanted things I could make and I had a great time crafting for them. Is that really a bad thing? I never expect more than the swap minimum and I enjoy making them happy.

I would love to swap for things kids could do in the car on a long car trip (3 girls ages 5-12). I can knit, crochet or trade yarn.
