Hi everyone.Today i finished another dog amigurumi. This time i made a Golden Retriever Puppy.I used Vardhman Millenium no.113 yarn for it and 2.25mm Pony crochet hook.I really love how the puppy turns out so cute. This pattern is inspired by various ami-dogs i have made from the book "Am ami dogs 1 & 2".I made the eyes out of really tiny white buttons and added black paint as its pupil. For the collar i used a blue ribbon and added an extra white crystal charm for cuteness(see the last pic).

I really like that you made him with "realistic" proportions.  I got frustrated with the "Ami Ami" dogs because their heads are all SO much bigger than their bodies.  I never finished the one I started because he just looked too ridiculous to me.

@wwrich- ya,i also hate amis who have bigger head than body, somehow i don't find them cute.so i always try to keep proportion. If you want to use the ami ami dog book's patterns use one size bigger hook for body or you can make your own body pattern.I mostly design the body myself and follow the head and other part of the pattern.

I did my own "tweaks" to the body from the book.  I think I did two or three versions before I got something I really liked. I just wasn't motivated enough to tweak the rest of the parts (legs, tail, etc) and stitch them together.  Somewhere in my stuff there is a head and body for a husky dog.

I never thought to try using a different hook size.  I am a bit worried that the size of the spaces from using the bigger hook might not look quite right....

@wwrich- changing hook size for body works well with dark coloured yarn,as the space and stitches are less visible.Ami ami dogs can be pretty irritating as it always gives an ami with bigger head.So i think there are many good propertioned head-body amigurumis are available,so i will spend my time n labour on them instead of improvising all those silly amis Wink
