Being a girl who likes crafts to come quickly and cheaply, I was astonished at a local fair when I saw a machine made quilt selling for £200 !!! My dear friend remarked that she would love one for her daughter but could never afford that.
And so the past year has seen me looking for interesting pillow cases that I could cut up and turn into quilt squares. Adding to the pile was an old hospital blanket that I used for batting and a single sheet. the most expensive buy was a little bag of flower print wooden buttons that I rescued from e-bay for £5. In total the blanket cost me £8.50 to make.  She is very much a pink girl, and loves butterflies - which i cut out from old remnants and appliqued onto the piece before backing it.
Comments would be well appreciated

I love this! You did a great job, and the price is just incredible  Grin

The butterflies are a great touch - are they stuffed too? I like.

Thanks all x it helps to have the world cheapest and most full charity (thrift) store close by.
Paper beau - I backed the butterflies with the same blanket I used as batting - just meant they were more sturdy and easier to appliqué x

Lovely quilt.  I am a sucker for butterflies and I adore the way yours meander over the quilt.

I love quilts and blankets made from previous fabrics/sheets/clothes etc.

It is the heart and history of quilting! Cheesy

What a generous size and lovely for a girl!
