I found this pattern in the Australia Patchwork and quilting magazine, Pioneer

Braid by Bev Darby in September 2005 issue. It was very difficult to match the

seams when joining the braided strips due to the one bias edge of the pattern

template. I really love the end result and if I make this pattern again will

just sew it onto a foundation fabric to prevent stretching.I used thick

batting and bought new flannel for the back, which makes the quilt super-soft

and warm. It is so cosy and warm under the quilt that I didn't need to use my

electric blanket so far this winter. The cat and the dog loves it too, I have

to compete with them to use my own quilt.

What makes this quilt extra special for me, is that my whole family helped to

tie the quilt, even the men! So a whole lot of love went into this quilt.

Very lovely colors and cool pattern! I think, though, that the warmth comes not just from the batting and flannel but from the warmth of the loving hands that helped put it together! It's a family hug every time you snuggle in it! Awesome!

Beautiful! I think someone is making this (or something similar) in my quilt guild. Matching the seams was frustrating her too!
