I love the whole head scarf movement that's been around for the last couple of years. Unfortunately, not only can I not tie a head scarf, I just cannot rock the look. I have found a fun, crafty alternative to carry me through the funk.
Your crafting essentials include:
scrap fabric
scissors
headband
needle
thread
hot glue gun (or alternative glue)
The scrap fabric I used was a sleeve from one of the many projects I am working on. I cut out the center four or five inches of the sleeve. I then twisted the fabric in the center. Once I achieved the desired affect, I pinned the fabric so it would not unravel.
Some strategic folding and gathering of the ends of the fabric needs to be done depending on how you want your faux head scarf to appear. If you want your head scarf to be wide, don't gather the ends as much.
After everything was pinned, I reinforced the twists and gathers by sewing the knot and ends.
The knot was not large enough to fully cover the headband. I took some scrap fabric from my Red Dress Refashion and glued it to the center of the headband.
I laid the knotted fabric over the headband and whip-stitched the ends of the fabric around the ends of the headband.
