I made this mug rug for the fun Ariethine in the current Mug Rug Swap. I found the embroidery on urbanthreads.com and found the fabric at Joann's.... I'm not much of a Steampunk gal myself but I really enjoyed making this! And after quite a bit of googling.... a new found appreciation for steampunk!

Not a steam punk girl myself but this is exceptional. The incomplete looking cogs in the background really make this piece stand out. Did you use metallics?

The fabrics are the perfect compliment to the embroidery--the whole thing looks great! I love the combination of embroidery and fabric piecing.  Your partner must have loved it!

Nope! I just tried using realy bold colors or coppers and silvers. I always have a hard time with the metallic floss.... and it turned out great with just normal cotton floss!

Thanks!
