Another little something that I whipped up for Crafterhours Skirt Week. I used this tutorial: http://www.max-california.com/2009/11/underbust-pinafore-dress.html, only I made my straps detachable & my skirt waisted instead of underbust.

Here's all my materials.

A little diagram of my pieces - this really helps me get my head around a project.

My little helper!

Hurray, all finished! I sewed buttonholes into the straps, and positioned buttons on the waistband of the skirt so the straps just button on & off. For more skirt pics & details see here: http://owlobsessedoddity.blogspot.com.au/2012/05/diy-friday-owlie-high-waisted.html I have a small square of this material left, so I'm carefully deciding what to make from it - right now I'm thinking hairbows.

I love the owls! I will have to checkout the tutorial.  Do you have a hard time w buttonholes?  I've only attempted thematic few times, but they never turn out quite right.

Cute skirt!  Good job

Thanks guys!

Megs501 - I didn't have much trouble with the button holes, but I'm lucky enough to have a machine with a buttonhole foot. You just pop the button into the back of the foot & it sets the length of the buttonhole & sews it for you. It feels a little like cheating to me, but it's so convenient!
