This is my first poppet. I finished her last year, and only got around to posting her now. Roll Eyes

Her name is Seren, and she is a fairy I made up. Ever wonder how stars get so sparkly and shiny? Fairies like Seren polish stars, with each fairy vying to have the brightest star in the sky. Seren carries the the main tool of her trade, a soft cloth for buffing any imperfections, in a small bag at her waist. She also wears tinted goggles, which are very important (nobody wants to get stardust in their eyes, and the tinted lenses protect eyesight from starglare).

Seren's goggles, bag, and belt.

Unfortunately for Seren, the star she was supposed to take care of appears to have come loose and fallen down somewhere in fairyland. She insists, of course, that it was fastened securely the last time she saw it. Despite her protests, the Master Polisher ordered her to find the star she lost, or not bother coming back to work. So Seren has been "grounded" ever since, searching for the missing star. And she might have found it by now, if she didn't keep getting distracted! Seren loves to collect blue objects, and even when those objects are already owned by someone else, she can't help picking them up. Tongue Between getting distracted and getting chased by angry magical creatures, it's no wonder she hasn't had time to look for the star! Hopefully, someday she'll find it, and will finally be allowed to return home. Smiley

The contents of Seren's bag: her polishing cloth, and assorted blue odds and ends.

I hand-sewed Seren and her clothing (the designs on her skirt are more silvery in person), and knitted her bag and her wings (which are removable). I embroidered the edges of her polishing cloth, and I also embroidered her eyes with pale blue, silver, and black embroidery floss. She wears earrings that I made with beads, jump rings, and wire. Her goggles are made from clay, sea glass, and felt.

One last photo with the goggles on. Always remember, eye protection is important!  Wink

Did you just figure out the wings yourself?  Every doll needs optional wings!

I have boxes of vintage piano music.  Some as old as 1890's!  PM me if you'd like some!

Thanks ghilie, and thank you for the pattern!

Thank you Ariethine. You should really try one, they're fun!

Thanks, dulcet! Yeah, I figured them out as I went along. You might say that I had to wing it! Tongue

Thank you so much, Sharalee! I'm glad you liked the story, I spent a lot of time thinking about her and her personality when I was making her. Smiley
