I made this bag using stencils made out of blue tape and some fabric paint.

It started out it's life looking like this but after a year stashed in the back of my closet, I decided that it needed a fresh coat of paint in order to motivate me to carry it out more!

All I did was Google some images and transferred it out on pieces of blue tape layered together.  I used an Exacto knife to cut out the parts (on a cutting mat - not on the purse!!!) that I wanted the paint to fill.

I mixed some acrylic paint with fabric medium (2:1 ratio) to make my own fabric paint!

I painted about 3 coats on the bag - letting it dry 1 hour in between coats or 20 minutes with the help of a blowdryer.

After it is completely dry, you just need to carefully remove the blue tape with the help of tweezers or an Exacto knife!  I cleaned up my edges with some Q-Tips soaked in nail polish remover.

You might want to lightly iron the bag with a piece of fabric on top of the stenciled portions for 20-30 seconds to really set the fabric paint if you didn't use a blowdryer during the stenciling process.

You can use this method on most bags, but just make sure the blue tape sticks really well to the material so that when you stencil the the images, the fabric paint only goes on the areas that you want it to go.  I hope you have fun breathing new life into purses that are hiding in your closet too Smiley
