I'm so excited about the craft I'm making for the Potions assignment ("A Forgetfulness Potion is something all first years must learn.  Create something that helps you remember.") I dug up an old corset top I wore very often from ages 15 to 18. It was a cheap one from H&M, but it was really beautiful, a deep burgundy colour with lace edging around the top. It had plastic boning and the same kind of closure a bra has. The boning bent quite badly, and it didn't fit anymore, but I've kept it over the past 5 years, determined to make something new out of it. I've finally decided on it's new destination, and I've spent the evening with my seam ripper, carefully detaching the lace without damaging it (though trick, but I managed!) and preserving everything I'll possibly be able to use. I can't wait to finish it and show you all what it will become!

I don't believe there has been. I think they have had just pen pal swap things but not any themed ones.

This is a good place to ask since we are the home of most of the Craftster HP lovers; I'm sure if anyone is interested, they will PM you.  Good luck in finding your penpal mate! Grin

(You could also add your search for a HP penpal in your signature to get more viewers.)

Class: Muggle Studies
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Wesley Crusher Jumper Hat
Brief Description: I made this hat inspired by Wesley Crusher's striped jumper from Star Trek.

I think it turned out pretty well! I put it on to take a photo, but I'm going to be sending this off to support the 100 Beanie Drive (http://epherielldesigns.com/100-beanie-drive). It's nice to give something back to the Muggles ^_^

I am going to use a metal butterfly for the base of my portkey so the muggles around here don't start wondering why I have some weird thing in my garden. I think I will paint it and I was wondering does anyone like a certain brand of paint better than others?

and the back of the behind:

This is my first EL wire project, and I have to tell you, the hardest part was working with transparent thread to secure it to the cardboard. However, I will be much more conservative when folding the stuff next time, you can see lots of cracks in the phosphorus.

Merlin's Beard!

I went away for but a week with the family and came back to an explosion of crafty wonders!  There are too many to individually call out, but I will say that I am loving them all and feel so inspired!

I haven't managed to finish much of my homework- I was too busy entertaining nephews with a week-long HP scavenger hunt game through woods and field and lake(complete with rhyming clues on scrolls, riddles, activities and prizes).  Now though, it's back to work and I hope to get some pictures posted asap!

Happy Crafting, everyone!

Harry witnessed Professor McGonagall walking right past Peeves who was determinedly loosening a crystal chandelier and could have sworn he heard her tell the poltergeist out of the corner of her mouth 'It unscrews the other way.
