Hello everybody. I want to make my daughter a skirt with pleats. How would I know how long to cut the fabric so it will match her waist after I make the pleats?

Thank you!!
A.

I can't find a page with a handy-dandy breakdown, sadly, but basically, you have to determine what kind of pleat you'll be using, the ratio of the pleat, and the finished width of each skirt panel. To figure out how wide each panel will be, you multiply the intended width by the pleat ratio. The ratio is just how much fabric is in a one-inch-wide pleat. If one 1" pleat actually contains 3 inches of fabric, you would multiply the skirt panel width by 3 to get your actual fabric width.

As to which kind of pleat you should use, that's up to your personal taste and the fabric you want to use Cheesy
