Money order help

I checked and couldn't find the stuff I'm wondering.
I made a sale she chose to pay by money order.
Here's my questions. I asked her what type she was using and she never responded, do I message again?
How long do I wait to receive it? (it was ordered on etsy sunday)
And what do I do if I don't receive it?

As to what type of money order, that depends on if she's in the same country as you, as there are national and international money orders. You need to TELL her to use such-and-such, on pain of her order being cancelled. As for how long until it gets to you, money orders travel by regular mail, so as little as a week, but a month isn't out of the question if it's coming from a different country.

What's weird to me is that a money order is so darn antiquated. You have to pay to send a money order, and considering things like credit cards and PayPal aren't $6 per payment, why didn't she use one of those? I also remember something about scams involving money orders, and I know my mother stopped accepting them as payment on eBay years ago because of all the headaches involved.

You tone in your next message depends on how long it's been since she messaged you about sending a money order. I'd be inclined to say you've changed your mind and would rather do the transaction with a more secure payment method. And then make sure you go fill out a policy page on your Etsy storefront detailing what payment and shipping methods you use.

All of my experiences with selling online are second-hand through my mother, though. Hopefully, someone with current experience will be by to chime in with first-hand accounts.

I was told the most secure money orders were those from USPS and I use them because I know that a lot of people buy my items in order to give them as gifts for grandchildren etc. And I went with no paypal or bank account in the past so I figured why not, what bothers me is she never responded telling me what kind of money order she would be sending or when. I mean Etsy gave this woman my address something I didnt realize so I'm feeling a little creeped out
