I made this for my partner Mellius01 the Three Tiny Movie Things swap. One of the movies she selected was Disney's 'Aladdin.' Being from the SF Bay Area, Robin Williams has a special place in my heart and his passing a couple years ago was devastating. As soon as I saw that, I had to do something to honor him.

I took the small Coraline from Swoon patterns and reduced her an inch. Everything else stayed the same. I found fabric the same color as Genie, found the perfect pose, used some stitch witchery to fuse it to the main bag fabric, and then hand embroidered Genie to the bag. I used Pellon's 'Print-Stitch-Dissolve' and printed the quote I wanted to use in the font I wanted..and hand-stitched that as well.

Yes. I am aware that the beginning of the quote is incorrect. It is supposed to be 'phenomenal cosmic power' not 'unlimited cosmic power.'  Sad

I almost just did the quote; but decided that I wanted the lamp there.

Butterflies are a symbol of change and renewal. I wanted to use them here to show that Robin moved onto bigger and better things. Released from the burden of his illness.

My partner really liked this item. I hope you guys do too!

Well now, that's different!  Great job!  I like the handle.
