This is my first challenge, and I picked a bad one as it's already got some great entries that put mine to shame! Nevertheless I'm going to submit it and take my first baby-steps into this fine Craftster world!
This challenge appealed to me as when we were on honeymoon in Iceland last year I picked up some gorgeous matt black lava rocks from a local craft shop. I used most of them to make a bracelet/necklace but I had a few left over that I wanted to use. When we were there we also ate some of the best sushi I've ever tasted so I felt that making some paper sushi rolls would set me up for a fab little honeymoon momento necklace. Here's how it went...
I cut some strips of paper (with scissors - naturally!) and rolled them tight round a cocktail stick before glueing the ends with a gluestick.
I dug out my stones and picked a nice square one out.
I used some dark green nail polish that I'd had for ages to paint a nice seaweed "nori" around the paper sushi rolls.
I left the rolls to dry on cocktail sticks in a tub of Playdoh, and used a dark pink pen to draw a salmon coloured centre onto each one.
Ideally I'd use a fine silver chain for them, but instead I threaded them onto a piece of cotton to finish.
Here's the finished article as it'd look hanging round my neck...
Thanks for looking! If you have any tips or thoughts on how I can improve or how I can better present a challenge entry, please let me know - Cheers!
