We had some international swappers in the last round, so Spain shouldn't be any problem (I live in the UK and I've just signed up) Smiley

I actually enjoyed it. I was worried it was going to be terrible, but I thought they did a great job. I really liked seeing the behind the scenes of the arena, like the control room and Haymitch getting sponsors. Effie was excellent. Katniss was perfect. I think my only disappointment was Peeta. He just didn't blow me away, and the cave scene was kind of hard to watch. But, I think I'm in the minority with that opinion, lol. Overall, I still walked away from the theater happy!

ETA: Oh! And where were all the classic lines? Haymitch didn't say "Here's some advice: Stay Alive." Peeta didn't say "Well, don't step on me" OR "We're supposed to be madly in love, you can kiss me anytime you want." Or something like that... Undecided

I was terribly disappointed with the movie.  I didn't read the books until previews for the movie were already airing, which meant i was already picturing those actors as the characters and therefore i find them perfectly cast lol.  I think the movie did a poor job of telling the story, and it only works as a companion to the book and does not stand on its own.

For instance, when reading book one i was overwhelmed by the talk of food.  I was hungry the entire time by proxy!  And i think that is important, because i really understood that these kids lives revolved around the hunting, making, trading, and eating of food.  What deeperation forces them to eat and how you ration so you can know for sure you will have a next meal.  In the movie there was nothing.  It is called the hunger games, and not one person ever got hungry!

that is all i can handle ranting about for now.

I thought the movie was good. Not great but good. I think it helped I went in knowing there was no way it would be as awesome as the book. I thought the cast was great in their roles. I know they could not put every part in but it was a bit like a 2 and a half hour outline of the book. I do agree with Abbeeroad I loved the behind the scenes of the arena. But in the end it was what I expected it to be good but the book was WAY better.
