I"ve been interested in optical illusion quilts for a while now, and decided to finally make one for a friend's upcoming wedding. Since I'm not sure what his colour scheme is (or if he's even got one) I chose neutral colours for the top. The back, which I'm realizing I didn't take a picture of, is crimson with a faint pattern on it that reflects the shape of the four squares on the top - I figured I'd have some colour on the back. It ended up bigger than I'd intended - about 75" x 75" - but I'm thrilled with how it turned out.

Here's the full top, in all its dizzying wonder:

Here's a closer view of one of the four squares:

And here's an even closer view of the same square:

I got the pattern for the squares from the book "Op-Art Quilt Illusions" by Marilyn Doheny, which was a very useful book that I'm sure I'll use again.

thats cool!  was it difficult to construct?  I could see how it would be easy to get mixed up while cutting/assembling
