Oh cool, jilly! You know all about Ballard then! We're really hoping all of the final details work out.

That is so exciting that your mister is in charge of the fireworks. Wow! I've never seen the show there but I'm sure it's awesome.

Woo hoo HOO!! We'll make a Scandahoovian outta you, Lime!   Grin Grin Grin

Well let's just darn well DO a Ballard one to start off with, eh?  June or any non-4th July is fine with me!

So much to do! Quilt shop, JoAnn's, little yarn store on 24th, all the bakeries, Nordic Heritage Museum (if they have any crafting stuff on display, they usually have something like that), slip up to Phinney for Fiber Gallery, so many eating places to choose from in Ballard! Smiley

Or just meet at one spot and start it simple.  Grin

Blasphemy!! You don't like coffee??!? Wink

I love coffee but just the old fasioned drip stuff. I'll get a fancy froofy drink now and then.

I think the neighborhood idea is so cute! We could even have neighborhood sponsors that would lead the tour Smiley. If all goes as planned, we'll be closing on a new house in Ballard next week. Camelama, we could co-lead that tour Smiley. I saw the quilting shop just moved to a bigger location.

I know that loudxmouse has a cafe near south lake union. It would be fun to visit her there.

Can you guys think of other Seattle-area folks we should forward this thread to?

How does the summer look? Should we tentatively try for something in June or July?

I was just going to suggest my cafe!
We are closing earlier these days (3pm) so we could even meet up and have the place to ourselves! There are no crafty wotsits in the area though :/ And obviously coffee would be available (or cocoa/tea/italian sodas for the blasphemers)

The other thing? I don't even like SALMON.

I know, right?   How do I still manage to live here?

But, I do make my own beer, and I'm a craft beer snob, so I guess that's why they let me stay.   Grin

My aunt lives in Phinney and I trek to Ballard with her on occasion. She'd not crafty, though, so I have to ogle those shops through the windows. Sounds like it'll be a blast!

Camelama and jillybeans, I'm with you: I can't stand coffee! Although I love the idea of sitting down with a cup and friends. The day Starbucks took italian sodas off the menu was a very sad day for me.

Oh, and I love the east side of the state! I have relatives in Spokane and the Palouse is absolutely gorgeous! I guess I'm a pretty bad fit for over here  Smiley

Aw man, you don't like salmon??  I love seafood . . . well except shrimp.  I had a bad shrimp experience once and I haven't been able to stomach it since.

You make beer!  How cool!  I'm just starting to like beer.  I'm more of a white wine person, but I'm always expanding!

Calabazza! I trek to Federal Way quite often to visit family. I think I could do the route with my eyes closed, I've driven it so often. LOL  we probably pass each other going to visit our relatives! This tickles me to no end.

Not liking salmon: growing up in the Midwest, any salmon WE could afford was pretty old by time it got to the table. Smiley So after too many bad salmon incidents, my brain just doesn't want it any more. I've had it a few times when it was the only thing available and afterwards my brain grudgingly agreed it was good, but it just won't shut up about it normally.  Cheesy

Hey, there's also Venue in Ballard, which hosts artists/crafters. And the little shop on Market next to Sonic Boom, which carries indie products.

And you HAVE to stop at either Besalu or Honore for some baked goods.  Grin
