Maybe it could be a little more academic, like, you tell your partner about one culture, past or present, that you would like to learn about & your partner sends you a package with all sorts of information on that culture. Example, my partner wants to learn about India, so I send something made of fabrics that come from or resemble traditional Indian fabrics, a homemade art journal filled with tidbits about Indian mythology, & a clay sculpture of the Taj Mahal. I hope that makes sense, but that way we aren't limited by where we are from but have the entire world to explore.

Totally makes sense and is a fantastic idea!  Perhaps add the element of swap surprise by having one item on the sign-up questionnaire be to list, say, three to five countries or cultures in which you're interested, then your partner would get to research one of them to provide information and crafted items for you.

I'm really loving this idea!

Definitely...in fact, I've been thinking about organizing, just haven't had a chance to start writing up some parameters and a questionnaire....

That's awesome. When this swap comes around, I'll have to check and see how full my plate will be. I'll be organizing a couple swaps Aug/Sept so I don't want to overdue it...but if the timing and stuff works, I'm in...if not, I'll stalk the gallery and grumble about missing out.

This sounds so neat!

Maybe on the questionnaire you can say what your culture is, that way if anyone wants items of that culture, partnering can take that into account? Just like pearljam94 is Native American, I live in America but I am Indian and still live in a very Indian household. So given someone was interested, I would love to share my culture with them (it would be easier for me to find Indian things than say Russian things haha). I do also really like the idea that it will be kind of a surprise what you are getting, and that people can research different cultures. Everyone's learning new things! Cheesy

If I have time I will strongly consider doing this swap Smiley

I like Paper Sparrow's and Water Baby's ideas!  I would also love to craft for a homeschooler, I think that's a wonderful application of this swap.

I am a product-oriented crafter and spend a lot of time on my items (believe it or not!)  I am interested in personal swaps with folks who have common interests and standards.  I love textiles, texture, and rugged-meets-vintage-meets-luxe.

Nice idea, there are some cultures and or historical cultures to learn about. My heritage is Saxon and I don't know a thing.  My last name is an adaptation of the UK spelling.
