I made this for Dharma Rebel in an IYP swap awhile ago.  I set out to fill it randomly, and I think I suceeded!  I embroidered on felt, with 3 strands of floss in most cases.

Hope you enjoy it!

Also it has partner hoop, here:  http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=407834.msg4810361#msg4810361

That is nice, and the hoop clock is such a good idea. I only recently tried embroidering on felt (for the Felt Badge Swap) and loved it. The evenness of the felt fibres doesn't push your stitches around the way woven cloth does.

Of course ordinary craft felt doesn't have a lot of strength, especially once you've punched it full of tiny needle-holes. I bought some wool-blend felt and it was much better to work with. And of course for anything larger you could back it with cotton or some other lightweight cloth for strength.

And I especially like the way the colours work against black. It reminds me I must try more of that myself.

Thank you Wulf!  This was craft felt, and if I remeber right, I did use a light cotton backing.  Although, this was a while ago, so I might be remembering something else!  Real wool felt is a lot stronger then craft.  Stitching on black is difficult -epecially if you have troubles seeing in the first place, but never wear your glasses anyway Roll Eyes - but so very worth it for the way the colors pop!

Man, is this ever so clever! I am a sucker for rainbows anyway, and I just love the random-ness of the stitches. But, to make it a clock, too? Consider my mind blown. Smiley

You really suceeded in making the embroidery random.  Randomness is extremely hard to pull off, the clock is very impressive!  I also love the bold colors and think I will try making a clock myself.  Thank you for sharing!

Thank you so much!  I can remember sitting there, with an embroidery book and the internet for different stitch types.  I think that very much helped me.
