This was for Dharma rebel in an IYP swap a while back. She had a VW bus embroidery on her wists, and I decided to make her a pillow.  The technique I used was reverse aplique.  I stitche though all 3 layers of fabric, then carefully cut out the layers, revealing the ones below.

Fantastic pillow - I love your technique - I've not tried that way of creating an "applique" before, but you have inspired me today!!  Cool

Oh my goodness Belladune that is amazing!!! What a cool idea with the reverse applique. I've always been so afraid to try it- it looks tricky. But  you've just inspired me to make it my next project  Smiley Thank you so much for posting  Grin

I have never seen one with more than one "hidden" layer. I love how it came out, thank you for sharing!

Thanks everyone!  Happy to inspire Cheesy  I should also mention I used teensy tiny scissors for the best control.  Makes it go a lot smoother and isn't quite as daunting.  That very first snip in each "window" of stitching is the most nerve racking of them all, because you don't want to cut the second layer.  After that it's not as bad Smiley

OOOHHH... I ~love~ it!  I am a little LOST obsessed, and love the Dharma Vans...I even stole my (then) 5 year old's marchbox VW van so I can repaint it the correct colors Smiley

I love this!  Adding it to my pinterest, ok? Smiley
