I made this as my first outfit for Burning Man. I'm a brazillian samba dancer so its inspired by that. I made it out of horribly ugly stuff too. It cost just under 10 bucks. It was very easy to make. Just sewed the ruffles on a strip of fabric to make a skirt and for the shirt I cut out the middle and added the gold.

first the hideous original pieces:
90's leotard w/ gold sparkles:
uglier than ugly skirt:
close up:
this pic sucks but its a polka dot button up blouse:

And the final product:

skirt:
back of shirt:

Sorry for all the pics.

I think you accomplished the making of something cool out of something(s) ugly. I like the tiered effect on the skirt! Smiley

That outfit is totally neat. I especially love the vertical line in the shirt -- it's like an arrows to the tattoos, it's great!

H-h-h-h-hottttt!!!!

I saw the pics of that outfit in the photo gallery and was wondering where they were posted!  That outfit is so great, and I agree, you get props for starting out with some nasty stuff!  (those leotard shirt things are so ugh).

I've been meaning to start capoeira too, there's a place about 15 min. from me, but I haven't had time to go because of school.  Thanks for reminding me to stop making excuses and just go!

Oh my GOD that's cute! I love the ruffly skirt, even though the fabrics on their own are ugly. They work well together on the skirt.

That's so great! I went to BM years ago (absolutely amazing) and one of the best parts is spending 48 hours before the long trip to Black Rock City sitting in front of your sewing machine- designing clothes that you've always wanted to make, but could never wear anywhere else.

Good job!
