So I had these old bras and wanted some new thongs. I used everything except the cups. The shoulder straps make for a great waist adjusters. The black thongs has straps that are interchangeable.

that really is ingenious. Unfortunately, the cups are the last to go on my bras, so no bra thongs for me.

I've done this before too. I've always taken all the strap hardware off and just used the strap but I really like your idea of using the hardware I think I'll do that next time.
