My parents recently replaced the light fixture in the dining room, and were planning to throw out the old chandelier until I intervened.  I was first planning to just strip off the fake crystals, but the main ring of the chandelier seemed too pretty to just throw away.  I found some heavy-duty metal cutters in my dad's workroom, but cutting like that left tabs on the sides of each piece.  Lucky for me, my dad also had a speed grinder* laying around.  A few hours work with that and a few coats of spray paint later, I ended up with this:

I'm planning to make more in different colors and with pearls and things instead of just chain, but I'm really excited so I had to post something now.

*The speed grinder is named Thor.  This is how I felt when I was making the pendants:

This project really makes me want to find more scrap metal so I have an excuse to play with the speed grinder again.

It's not so bad bein' trendy...
