I have an idea I want to try with resin paper, but which would be better.  I want to make coloured die cuts of newspaper resin paper.

Should I...

A) make the die cuts of the untreated newspaper, colour the cuts, then apply the resin to the treated paper die cuts

or...

B) colour the untreated paper, make the resin paper, then die cut the treated paper

I am thinking A may be the better option for better control of the colour, though it would be easier to do B, but may not get the colour effects I want.

How about try both, and then decide which look and which technique you prefer?

Good luck with your decision -- sounds like it'll be fun regardless of which way you go!

p.s. -- I'm now running off to google "resin paper" Smiley

It's really cool.  What you do is take paper, layer garbage bags on your surface to protect it, mix up your resin, and then treat the paper with the resin.  It turns the paper translucent, and it can then be used for whatever purposes.  I have seen it used to make things like fairy wings.  I die cut some flower shapes and have added some colour to them, and will coat them with resin later.  I will try the other method at the same time, so I don't waste any resin.  I am hoping that afterwards, I can shape the resin paper flowers a bit and use them, mixed with organza flowers to make a wreath, and later some wall art.  My plan was to also add some naughty little messages hidden into the petals.

That does sound crazy cool! I'd love to see some pictures. What a clever idea!
