A very short while ago my husband bought a box of 'junk' at an auction. One of the items in the box was a lovely little vintage bubble egg dipping wand. Also a very short while ago I bought a pretty old photo. Here's what happened to them...

The base is the top of a little wooden box, the ladybugs are handmade from paperclay, the background from an old book, the moss natural. It measures around 3.5" wide x 5.25" tall.

I left the little latch on the lid... I think it's rather sweet.

The thing I like most of all is the expression on the girls face Smiley

She's marvelous!

I especially love the way the moss and the butterfly are escaping their confines!

~CD~

p.s. Have you treated the moss in some way?

Thanks gals!

The moss is purchased. It's reindeer moss and it's really lovely stuff to work with. I'm sure it is treated but it's not nearly as dye soaked as other commercial moss. We do have a lot of moss here but it dries out and becomes quite straggly, brittle and a bit of a mess to tell the truth. I'm going to play with it over the summer but now it's just damp and soggy  Wink

So lovely!! I think the bubble wand is a dipper from an egg coloring kit. They used to be copper, looks like yours has a wonderful patina.

You're right! And here I thought she was going to blow bubbles... I guess she's going to steal our eggs instead  Tongue

I was going to say "egg dipper" too. In any case, I love how you used it. Great piece!

I have a question: did you alter the original photograph, or did you copy it and add color?

and P.S. I am jealous of your box of junk. Your hubby is a keeper!

I scan my old photos to use. If they are really beat up I fix them (this gal a few issues with her dress). Then I print them, hand tint them, then I add the stuff like the stripey belt, hat and wings.
