I'm in a conundrum on what to do for Mother's day. I moved out of the house & the country a bit over a year ago, but I feel a big need not to let my mother down on her special day. She'll probably forget there's anything special about the day (she's always surprised when we remember her birthday too, because she keeps forgetting!) but it's all the more reason to pamper her. Unfortunately, this year, I cannot go back home for Mother's day, and I don't quite know what to do. I thought about having flowers delivered, but they only start at 25, and I know my mother: she finds it a waste of money, even though she really like flowers. I thought of having breakfast delivered, but the thing is: she routinely wakes up at 6a.m., even in the week-ends, so she'll most likely have had breakfast BEFORE the delivery. Deliveries most often start from 7.30 onwards, but seriously, if it's the one day she IS able to sleep in, I don't want breakfast delivery to wake her up...

Since I wouldn't actually be saving money by buying from a distance and having things delivered, I might as well ship something internationally, it probably won't cost me more. Have you been in the same situation before? What did you do to let mom know she's still a very special person for you? Obviously, the package would arrive a couple of days before Mother's day, because the postal services only deliver monday-friday, and I don't want to risk counting on it arriving on friday and it only arriving the monday after. I think this pretty much takes baking out of the equation, and since I have less than three weeks left to send it out, I don't have a lot of crafting time left... Any ideas?

I'm in the same position. I live in the UK, my mom lives in the US. I haven't finished everything yet but I'm sending her a "relaxation kit"... some knitted slippers, an eye mask, rice therapy bag, and sticking it all in a nice bag which she can use as a purse. I generally send early to make sure it gets there in time but she doesn't seem to mind. I think as long as you call on the day, it doesnt matter when the gifts arrived!

Alternatively, in reference to your point about shipping...

I often buy things on amazon.com to be delivered to my mom so shipping is reasonable because I order from the .com site instead of the .co.uk site. You could always consider something similar if you run out of crafting time! Good luck!

I'm thinking about getting metal legs. It's a risky operation, but it'll be worth it.
