So obsessed with this show. The hairstyles and costumes are amazing but I especially love the crowns. Last week Renly debuted with the most awesome deer antler sort of crown.

Looking at it in retrospect the antlers extend higher but oh well. I found a cool technique for sculpting and baking where I made a little tin foil dome to hold the antlers in a certain way before/during baking. Then pulled it away after it was cured. Then I painted it with gold powder and lacquer. Love it. I wanna make the other crowns now.

Wow! I am seriously impressed! I love the crown. You did such a great job. I first scrolled down to look at the pictures. I thought to myself is that Renly? I am on the first season of Game of Thrones right now. I am glad you wrote it was Renly or I would have been going crazy. Love the show. I started with the book first. I am reading Clash of Kings right now.

Well while it looks like others are big fans of this show I personally have never even heard of it Tongue But I do love the crown and all of those TINY little details you got into it Smiley

Verrry nice!  Great idea to use a temporary form under it too!

Do you have wire or other permanent armatures under the longer of the projecting antler branches?

No wire. The pieces are small enough they stayed up for the most park. I'll try and show a demo on the little tin foil form I made.

That would be great...think a lot of people would like to see how you used a temporary form.

(Actually, I was worried about those longer projections breaking off later with use, but if the crown is small enough probably not a problem.)
