The paint pens really had great coverage on the wood. Some of the lighter colors I would go over twice but they worked like a dream.

I love how bright and happy these little houses are!  I love the colors you used, too!  So cute!  I want like a whole village of these happy little fellows.  I'm gonna have to keep my open for drift wood the next time I'm at the ocean.

While I was writing this week's Project of the Week email (that's you, by the way!), I also thought these would be adorable additions to a house warming gift.  You could attach one to the top of your gift package with raffia or twine.

That is a great idea, sweets! Definitely going to do that. You could even add a ribbon and loop it around a nice bottle of wine - or add it to a pretty potted plant.

Do you do anything special to clean them to make sure there are no "critters" in/on wood if you want to bring them into the house?

Yes! I should have mentioned this. Thank you for bringing it up.

When I bring the driftwood home, I give all of the pieces a nice long bleach/water bath. I use a fingernail scrubber brush thing to scrub them down and clean in any small cracks. After a really good rinse, I let the pieces dry for a day or 2 before I paint them.
