Hold On & Let Go ATCs - featuring Elmer's products

This project was inspired by a quote I stumbled upon recently, "Life is a balance of holding on and letting go."

I thought it was very lovely and I was inspired to create my own interpretation of it as a reminder to 'hold on' when it's worth it and 'let go' when it's not. Armed with my bin of paper goodies and my box of Elmer's supplies, I set to work on creating these ATCs (Artist Trading Cards).

I started by cutting 2 small rectangles from an empty soda can and hammering away at them with metal stamps to create the words.

I really like the soft but polished look of a perfectly rounded corner. The X-ACTO rounded corner cutter is a great tool for achieving this look quickly and easily.

To add extra dimension to the cards, I used Elmer's foam mounting tape to attach the stamped aluminum pieces.

I used both the Elmer's glue stick and glue pen to layer the papers and add embellishments such as buttons. The glue pen dries very quickly which makes it great for this type of project. I hate waiting to let glue dry!

The X-ACTO paper cutter also came in very handy while I was working on this project. I was able to make perfectly straight cuts in seconds flat. This puppy is so sharp that it cuts through heavy card stock like butter!

To attach thin paper, like this old book page, I used the Elmer's glue dot runner. Sometimes craft glue on fine paper can cause bubbles or other distortions but the glue runner holds everything in place without any wrinkling.

For the card itself, I did a light wash on watercolor paper. I embellished it with stitches and various other crafty items, all securely attached using Elmer's!

I love an ATC, and a sewn one is even better. Cool idea with the soda can. May have to try that!

Lime
You are so detail oriented, and of course your stamping is meticulous! I have a corner rounder, and use it a lot! Such a handy little cutout for adding a finished edge.  Smiley

LOVE the sentiment! And I love that you used so many different elements and techniques but they don't look busy at all.

When it includes stamping, Lime is probably involved  Grin

What a great ATC's! I had never heard of a rounded corner cutter,  but I haven't been in a proper craft shop for a long time! Now I want one....

The stitching, the use of the soda can, the small strip of a book... How creative!

You have been a busy bee, Lime!  Cheesy
