Embellished Gift Bags - featuring Elmer's products

I do love to run with scissors. Ok, not really, but ya gotta chop up some paper in the next project, and these are the tools to do it with!

Below is the cutting mat, X-ACTO knife, short scissors and the guillotine paper cutter. I was fiddling around with the paper cutter and discovered that it has a storage compartment under the top surface. This is a great idea, especially since this size cutter is a perfect size to keep on your work surface and you can corral all your sharp tools in one area. I absolutely love the pink color scheme of these tools. I'm always misplacing my scissors, but these are easy to find (and pretty)!

I had some bags from my LQS (Local Quilt Shop) that were much too pretty to carry lunch to work, so I wanted to repurpose them into gift bags. There is a fabulous template for pinwheels over here: (http://heatherbailey.typepad.com/links/FlowerPinwheel.html)

The paper cutter came in handy to trim down the two-sided card stock.

I used map tacks and the cutting mat to stabilize the template against the card stock, and the X-ACTO knife to cut the pattern twice for each pinwheel.

A brad secures each blade in the center.

The large glue dots made attaching the pinwheel to the bag a snap!

Of course, that was my last piece of two-sided paper. (How does that happen!!?) So, using the masking tape Elmer's sent, I crafted my own!! I ran the patterned masking tape in a random, pleasing way across a piece of plain card stock, and burnished it down with a bone folder to make sure there weren't any air bubbles.

Pinwheel number two!

To add a little fun to the top of the bag I used the paper cutter to make a fringe and crinkled it up. I used the glue pen to attach it to the inside of the bag.

Pinwheels remind me of summer, and these are no exception. The second one is my favorite though, with the bright colors and extras on the bag.  Smiley

I really notice the details that people put into gift wrapping. I think it's so thoughtful. This is a great way to add an extra special touch to an ordinary bag.

That's adorable. I love how you improvised with tape to create patterns!
