Butterfly Ornaments - featuring Elmer's products



I purchased these paper mache' ornaments at a craft store and thought it would be fun to make an ornament you could hang year round. First I 'primered' the sides of the ornaments with the white Elmer's Painters Pen.


I chose some papers I liked and traced and cut the papers for the back and front of both ornaments. Then I glued them on using the Elmer's Craft Bond Glue Stick and lightly sanded the edges.


I wrapped Elmer's Designer Tape around the edges of each ornament. Because the tape was a bit too wide, I wrapped it making sure one side of the tape was flush with one side of the ornament, leaving just one side to trim. Note: The tape is slightly transparent, hence the reason for priming the sides.


I used the black Elmer's Paint Marker to edge around the sides of each ornament, drilled a small hole at the pointed bottom of each ornament, dabbed a bit of Elmer's Glue Pen in the hole and secured an eye pin there.


I cut some bits and pieces from pretty paper and played with arranging them on the ornaments until I liked a layout.


I used the Elmer's Glue Stick once again to affix the paper scraps to the ornaments, and used the glue pen to attach the little dangles to my eye pins with pieces of ribbon.


I added some metal findings, a few crystals and tied some bows to the tops of the ornaments. I really like how cute the Designer tape looks on the sides!

These are really beautiful. I've seen those blanks at Michaels, and never felt I could do anything exciting enough with them. You have proved me wrong. These would probably also be great Christmas ornaments.

Oh my gosh, these are SO pretty!  This was literally the first project on the board I clicked on because it caught my attention.  I need to pin these when I get home because they're just so gorgeous!

They would make great Christmas ornaments!  Or change up the paper selection and make decorations for other holidays.  These are so cute!
