Tiny Little Spring Shrine - featuring Elmer's products

A cheerful wee shrine to usher in spring!

I began with the inside of a tiny little jewelry box. (It's the size of a matchbox, so that would work as well.) I measured paper for the bottom of the box and cut it out using the X-ACTO Cutting Mat and the X-ACTO knife.

Using the green Elmer's Paint Marker, I filled in the corners and edges of the inside of the box, then glued in my bottom piece of paper with Elmer's Craft Bond Glue Pen.

Picking up the paint markers again, I painted the sides of the box with the green pen and then went over it with lime, blending with a Q-tip as I went.

While the box was drying, I drew and cut out a little house shape for the front of the box out of cardboard. I made the center opening large enough to see all the goodies I'd be adding to the inside of the box. Then I found some pretty paper and cut it to fit the house facade. I glued it on, let it dry and lightly sanded the edges.

I used the Elmer's painters pens in the green shades to paint both the outside and inside edges of the house facade.

Setting the front of the shrine aside, I began embellishing the inside of the box. I cut some flowers out of some complimentary paper and used two layers (one on top of the other) of the Elmer's foam tape to affix them to the bottom of the box. The puffiness of the foam tape gives the pieces a little extra depth.

I kept adding bits and pieces, including a metal finding and little crystal center until I was happy with how it looked. Next, I cut and measured a piece of paper for the sides and back of the outside of the box. I glued the papers on using the Craft Bond Glue Pen and set it aside to dry.

While I was waiting, I painted the back side of the house facade with the painter pens in the two shades of green, blending as I went. After it dried, I glued some polka dot paper around the inside edge with the glue pen and then glued the facade on to the box.

I added some cute little buttons and a butterfly to the front and as a final touch, I cut out the word 'fresh' from an old dictionary and glued it on the front. A few little details added to the back and it's a cheerful little celebration of spring!

I had no idea the pens would blend like that! These are adorable. They would make neat little fridge magnets too! Love 'em!
